The Railway Hotel is the latest gem in Portobello's portfolio.
A beautifully refurbished pub, dining & hotel, A stones throw from the pier in Worthing and right opposite the mainline station.
We expect the Railway to be the place where people meet, to eat, drink and have a good old catch up, with family, friends and colleagues, our offer will be premium and delivered with excellence, every-time.
Our food will be fresh & seasonal, with a good mixture of pub classics and 'on trend' dishes.

Our General Managers work closely with the operations team to manage “their” business.
We just ask for a few things; that you will lead and inspire your team from the front, finding innovative ways to delight your guests. You will ensure each and every person that walks through our doors, receives the greatest hospitality, and every piece of food and drink that passes their lips is the freshest and finest quality that Worthing has to offer.
With this in mind, you will work closely with your management team, including your head chef, so that you can partner the finest food with the drinks offer and atmosphere that you will be the beating heart of every shift.
You will be fully responsible for the pubs P&L, so converting sales to profit is also important. You will have an eagle eye for detail, ensuring our guests journey from beginning to end is the best it can be.
You will be at the forefront of training your team, with a genuine passion to develop and nurture your future stars and in turn, take your business forward. We believe in developing a strong bench, having a succession plan in place to reduce any recruitment needs and in turn develop our people into the next Portobello General Managers.
You will demonstrate all of this by upholding our company values of honesty, integrity and fairness with our teams, our guests and anyone else associated with our business.
Pub Specifics
The Railway will boast 35 boutique hotel rooms, so a hotel back ground is preferred, but by no means essential.
We expect the business to take at least £40k per week, so candidates should have experience running pubs with a decent food / liquor split.
The pub is a major refurbishment, and has been closed for 6 months whilst the builders have been on site, so we need someone with a 'can do' attitude, plenty of personality and that is prepared to walk the streets, beaches & pier to get to know 'their customers'
