Role Overview
We are looking for a reliable, hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our kitchen team at No. 197 Chiswick Fire Station. As a KP, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining kitchen cleanliness, supporting chefs, and ensuring smooth back-of-house operations in our busy all-day restaurant and bar.
Key Responsibilities
- Wash, dry, and store all kitchen dishes, utensils, cookware, and glassware.
- Maintain kitchen hygiene: regularly clean kitchen surfaces, floors, equipment, and bins.
- Assist with basic food prep tasks, such as peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients, under the supervision of the kitchen team.
- Receive deliveries and help store supplies in proper locations (fridge, freezer, dry store).
- Ensure all equipment is cleaned and maintained regularly.
- Dispose of waste and recycling correctly.
- Support the kitchen team during service times by restocking stations, preparing mise en place, and clearing away used trays or trolleys.
- Liaise with the chefs and kitchen management to help ensure a smooth workflow.
- Follow health and safety regulations, including food safety standards and safe chemical handling.
Person Specification / Desired Skills
- Previous experience as a kitchen porter or in a similar role is preferred but not essential — training will be provided.
- Good physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items (pots, trays, boxes), and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene and food safety.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work well in a team.
- Good communication skills and a proactive attitude.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and evenings, given our opening times.
Working Hours
- Part-time or full-time positions available.
- Shift patterns will include early mornings, late evenings, and weekend shifts, depending on business needs.
